INTERESTING CASE - AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND CHALLENGING CASE OF A FEMALE PATIENT WITH BLADDER EXSTROPHY AND VAGINAL ATRESIA.

Today, we had the privilege of managing an exceptionally rare and challenging case of a female patient with bladder exstrophy and vaginal atresia.
Her remarkable journey began at the age of 7 years, when she was evaluated by Dr. Prakash Sir (Urology) and underwent an Indiana pouch urinary diversion and Mc Indoe vaginoplasty. Following the procedure, she achieved good urinary continence and went on to lead a fulfilling and near-normal life.
Years later, she got married and conceived spontaneously —an extraordinary milestone considering the complexity of her congenital condition and previous reconstructive surgery.
During pregnancy, she was referred to multiple centres but she was not accepted for delivery elsewhere. She subsequently presented to our department for further management.
After detailed evaluation and meticulous multidisciplinary planning involving Obstetrics, Urology, Anaesthesia, and Neonatology, she was planned for an elective LSCS.
With the invaluable guidance and expertise of Dr. Prakash Sir, and the coordinated efforts of the entire multidisciplinary team, the LSCS was completed successfully with no intraoperative complications. We are delighted that both mother and baby are doing well.
This case is more than just a successful delivery—it is a story of resilience, hope, expertise, and teamwork.
From a complex congenital anomaly diagnosed in childhood, through reconstructive urological surgery, to marriage, pregnancy, and finally successful motherhood—her journey is truly remarkable and deeply inspiring.
A rare condition.
An extraordinary journey.
A successful delivery.
And a beautiful example of what can be achieved through courage, meticulous planning, and multidisciplinary teamwork
