INTERESTING CASE - ECTOPIC URETER

6-year-old girl, Baby Rithika Presentated with Per vaginal discharge with recurrent UTI since 3years of age
CT Urogram done : showing
Bilateral duplex kidney with double ureters,
Upper-moiety ureter was markedly dilated and tortuous with ectopic insertion into the vagina causing Vaginal discharge
All moiety are normal functional except Upper moiety of the right kidney
Management: Open Hemi nephrectomy of the non-functional upper moiety of the right duplex kidney with excision of the dilated, tortuous upper-moiety ureter was done by Dr Prakash rao sir and team
Persistent vaginal discharge/wetness with recurrent UTI in a young girl should raise suspicion of an ectopic ureter, especially in the setting of a duplex collecting system.Duplex collecting system occurs in 0.3–1% of the population. Ectopic ureter is uncommon (~1 in 2,000–4,000), with female predominance. Vaginal ectopic ureter is a rare presentation (1 in 20000-40000)
Special thanks to the Anesthesia team for excellent intraoperative management and to the entire team for meticulous postoperative care and support.
